Demo Discovery :)
WOW. That's all that comes to my mind right now. Big red WOOOOOOW. Possibly with a cherry on top....or something in those lines.
You know how sometimes you're looking for a certain something and then what you come across is completely off topic? Like when you're Googling for some MOSFET data sheet and you get a soup recipe instead? Well the same thing happened to me today...searching for something I came across something else...and one thing linked to the other...and I ended up HERE. Check out what I've found. This demo, called Iconoclast, has been released on July 2005 but I hadn't seen it before, and if it wasn't for this freak accident I would never have seen it, and that would have been the loss of a life time!!
So that's what the WOW is for, this demo ROCKed my world so hard. Do check it out, it's bloody amazing to put it lightly.
And hey, I was not looking for demos today. ;)
Update: Well I ended up registering an account in that website to leave a (+) for this demo. You might want to do the same!

to everyone, if I may please intrude, I am Amoivikos of A.S.D, the group that created Iconoclast, the demo mentioned in this blog post. Thanks for all the good words you put in. I traced the comments from pouet.net back to here, so I thought I might offer some additional info, hoping for our host's tolerance of this somewhat long post.
You cannot download the demo from the download link, because our group server is down at the moment. However, it is mirrored in several other places, such as scene.org so you can get the demo from over there.
As for who actually created it, well, we are a demogroup from greece, and we are called ASD. Our members are programmers, musicians and graphics artists. It is basically an executable program, just like a computer game, only it's not playable, it's a show of graphics synched to the music. Consider it like a video clip, only it's not a recorded video, but a program that runs on your computer that generates the visuals.
For those not familiar with the demoscene, there are a great many other demogroups just like us, mostly based in europe. Pouet.net is a kind of information database for demogroups and their productions. I encourage you to explore the demoscene, all demos are freeware, generally of small filesize, and most make for great viewing pleasure :)

Hey people, this is aMUSiC, musician of ASD. Thank you all for your kind words, and for the non savvy ones.. Welcome to the wonderful world of the demoscene.
Just a minor note, demos use programming techniques similar (if not identical at times) to what computer games do. Therefore (like games) modern demos require a decent CPU and a good graphics card/3d accelerator (such as recent ATI or nVidia graphics cards) to run. The better the card, the smoother the result.
Video versions of the demos are there for people who don't have the relevant equipment to watch the demos in realtime.
Finally, greetings to all progressive rock/metal fans out there, as well as fans of not-so-conformant music =)
